[Case Study] BMMT and Global Dyspraxia with Dane – Part 1

BMT session for holistic relaxation Alt text: Bioelectric Meridian Therapy applied to a client's head and neck on a tranquil massage table, calming décor visible. Description: Therapist massages person’s head and neck with BMT techniques; mirror and relaxing room décor create a peaceful setting.

Mark got in touch with ABMMA in October 2019 to enquire about the benefits of Bioelectric Meridian Massage Therapy in treating Global Dyspraxia. He was interested in taking the Level 1 Introduction to Bioelectric Meridian Massage Therapy (BMMT) course offered through ABMMA.

Mark wanted to train in BMMT to help his 26-year-old son, Dane who was diagnosed with Global Dyspraxia (left and right brain hemisphere communication disorder) at the age of three.

Mark had previously experienced the benefits of BMMT personally, after receiving Chiropractic adjustment for 35 years. Mark received three sessions from one of ABMMA’s student alumni, Darren Axtell for his back and neck issues, and felt 85 percent improvement from only three sessions. He was so impressed with his results that he strongly believed the modality would improve his son, Dane’s condition.

A brief description of Dane’s health history

Dane is a very innocent and happy person. At 26 years old, he looks about 15 with the cognitive function of a 6 year old child. He suffers from skin allergies and digestive issues.

Dane’s father, Mark says they have tried many therapies to support Dane over the years.

“We have done neuro link for 2 years, acupuncture, tried Chinese herbs, chiropractic and cranial sacral therapy. We tried 6 months of bio neurofeedback with a physiologist in Tweed Heads followed by 2 months of at-home training of sound neuro optimal training, peptides among other things,” said Mark.

“He is better than he was, but progress is very slow. He is very alert and can communicate with limited words and actions,” Mark explained.

Our approach for Dane’s case

While waiting for the next training course date, we suggested Mark try BMMT on Dane and see how his body reacts to the therapy. Dane visited our Principal, Tracy Taulier to begin with five days of back to back sessions in early December 2019. From there they would decide whether Dane’s body was accepting of further therapy.

Based on a report from Dane’s Naturopath, Mark and Tracy agreed to prioritise Dane’s poor gut health. Tracy’s feedback from the initial five sessions was as followed:

dane before and after thermo cameraInitial assessment (Monday):

  1. Thermo camera reading – Posteriorly, Dane’s body temperature is cold from his mid-back to sacrum (particular over the kidney zone) and anteriorly cold from chest to lower abdominal (particularly the colon). However, he had a lot of heat in the region of the upper back, neck and head.
  2. Dane produces an excessive cold sweat on his lower back (between the kidney, small/large intestines and reproductive zones), his abdomen, hands and feet. These regions are cold to the touch.

Final assessment (Friday):

  1. Thermo camera reading – We managed to improve the Qi and blood flow to the cold regions. Kidney Qi has significantly improved after 5 sessions. We didn’t see much improvement to the colon. We were able to stimulate the Qi in the lungs region. The heat in the upper back, neck and head also improved.
  2. I am glad that I can feel some heat on Dane’s lower back and abdominal region and he does not sweat as much.
  3. I worked on Dane’s cranium three times, I felt some connection from occiput down to his upper back during the last session. I believe the gateway will open if we continue on a regular basis.

Summary of Dane’s case (Part 1):

dane and tracy taulier

Mark understands that this is a long term journey for Dane. Our internal body systems are unpredictable, so what we are trying to do here is use external bioelectric energy to stimulate Dane’s own natural bioelectric energy to promote his body to selfheal.

According to Jerry Tennant in Healing is Voltage: Acupuncture Muscle Batteries, “cells run in an environment of -25 mV, which is why we need to charge up our energy in order to maintain a functional body and the health of the cell.”

Where to next for Dane? Due to some health issues, Marty (Dane’s carer) will take ABMMA’s Level 1 Course instead of Mark. Dane will continue to see Tracy for treatment once a month for specific detail therapy and in between sessions, Marty will provide basic routine BMMT on Dane focusing on the spine health and lymphatic drainage, from home. The benefit of bioelectric meridian massage therapy, is that it’s safe and easy for anyone to learn to assist friends and family. Family contribution of BMMT will make a huge difference to Dane’s overall wellbeing.
