Chronic stress and how BMT can assist

Quiet Reflection by the Window Alt text: A person sits alone on the floor by a sunlit window, head in hands, suggesting the weight of stress before BMT support. Description: Alone and stressed, a person sits by a glowing window with knees up—capturing the need for relief that BMT services offer.

STOP! Does this scenario sound familiar?

Your alarm didn’t sound this morning. Your kids are crying and grizzling. You’re worried because you still owe the ATO last year’s tax, and you’re now late for an important meeting. You get in the car to find the air-conditioning is broken. Could the morning get worse?

Your heart is pounding. Your breath is getting shorter and shorter. You are seriously stressed out!

Our bodies are fairly resilient and can handle a bit of stress. In fact, they’re made to. But chronic stress on the other hand can have serious health impacts. Bioelectric Meridian Therapy can assist to help your body rest and recover after stress.

What happens to your body when you are stressed?

Stress is a normal part of life. It can actually be beneficial. When we are stressed, our hypothalamus – a tiny control tower in our brain – decides to send out the order: “Send in the stress hormones!”

These stress hormones are the same ones that trigger our body’s fight or flight response. Our heart races, our breath quickens, and our muscles get ready to take action. This response was designed to protect your body in an emergency by preparing you to react quickly. But when the stress response keeps firing, day after day, it can put your health at serious risk.

The command centre of the brain

When someone experiences a stressful event, the amygdala, an area of the brain that contributes to emotional processing, sends a distress signal to the hypothalamus. This area of the brain functions like a command centre, communicating with the rest of the body through the nervous system so that the person has the energy to fight or flee.

Chronic stress is an underlying contributor to countless physical ailments like chronic fatigue, pain, brain fog, poor sleep, a weak immune system, fibromyalgia, and more.

Chronic stress can even put you at higher risk for many life-threatening illnesses if over time it is left untreated.

What is electrostimulation?

Electrostimulation is a strategy for modulating the nervous system by electrical stimulation.

It takes advantage of the mechanism of neural signaling, that is, the electrical and chemical means by which actional potentials are propagated, neurotransmitters are released, and neurons or target organs (eg muscle) are activated.

External electrical stimulation of a nerve fibre elicits an action potential that travels along the nerve and subsequently activates the adjacent cells, either neuron or muscle fibre. These characteristics allow electrostimulation, or the application of electrical current on a nerve, to be used both diagnostically and therapeutically. (F.A. Ponce, in Encyclopedia of the Neurological Sciences (Second Edition), 2014).

Using Bioelectric Meridian Therapy as electrostimulation

Unlike most of the conventional systems which use electronically conductive materials such as conductive electrode and metals to act as conductors, ABMMA BMT allows the practitioner to be the conduit for the energy. This interaction provides a unique interface between the client and practitioner.

The energy used for each client is tailored to match their frequency. ABMMA BMT has the added advantage of allowing the practitioner to assess and address the imbalances at the same time – therefore assessing and treating in the session.

How Bioelectric Meridian Therapy works

Bioelectric Meridian Therapy is a gentle, restorative therapy providing incredible results, naturally. ABMMA BMT uses a bioelectric device (the TGA-approved ABMMA PRO) that generates a small electrical signal that is transferred to the client’s body through the therapist’s hands.

The practitioner’s touch together with the bioelectric energy and our high alkaline BMT cream, helps to unblock the body’s main meridian pathways, improve circulation and blood flow – gradually restoring health from the muscular level to individual nerves, cells and organs.

Using the body’s natural bioelectricity, BMT creates a detoxing effect – restoring balance and promoting the body’s natural ability to self-heal.
