Self-Treatment is Gold

A woman in a yellow jumper hugs herself, eyes closed and smiling peacefully, embodying the calm achieved through Bioelectric Meridian Therapy in a sunlit room. Description: In a bright room with large windows and lush greenery outside, a relaxed woman embraces herself, radiating tranquillity—an effect of Bioelectric Meridian Therapy. Title: Embracing Tranquillity After BMT Session.

Have you wondered how many visits to your local chiropractor or physiotherapist are required before the pain goes away? Then you’re probably not aware of your self-treatment options. Although scientific research has not proven or guaranteed self-treatment techniques alleviate pain, there is some truth in the saying “nobody can help you as much as you help yourself” and this article aims to share some worthwhile choices you can make at home to improve your health and decrease pain.

1. Heat

Heat is a reliable physical agent and is applied to general muscles aches and pain that have been present for more than three days to help relaxation. It is not advisable to use heat during an acute stage of injury which is less than three days, if it is used, it must be with caution.

Heat can be applied in a variety of ways including heat packs, warm baths or even going to saunas are shown to be helpful.

2. Exercise

No doubt, keeping fit is vital in preventing pain and self-treating it. Strengthening and stretching exercises are essential for recovery from a painful condition. Light cardiovascular training such as walking or swimming is a good start for those who want to beat pain, and combining exercise with a healthy diet, it can help one to maintain a proper weight level which also decreases stress on the lower back, hip, knee and ankle joint.

3. Meditation

Meditation practitioners swear by its results, meditating for 30 minutes per day has shown to improve the state of mind, wellbeing, mindfulness, relaxation, reduce stresses and ease muscular pain. Research has shown meditation practices are beneficial for your health and it is worth trying as a self-treatment option that can be performed anywhere without tools. One can find many tutorial techniques on YouTube easily.

4. Foam Roll

Foam rolling is a technique where a person’s body weight compression is applied against the foam roller tool, resulting in similar effects of a massage using a self-treatment approach targeting a variety of muscles of our body. The foam roller was never and will never be intended to replace the hands of skilled therapists but rather to assist them in increasing flexibility, improving circulation, removing trigger points in the muscle and eliminating pain. Nowadays, foam rollers can be bought easily and stored at homes conveniently.

5. Bioelectric Meridian Therapy (BMT)

Did you know Bioelectric Meridian Therapy (BMT) can be used to treat yourself at home? Of course, it is much better to experience the benefits of BMT in the hands of a certified practitioner. However, Bioelectric Meridian Therapy is still an extremely worthwhile self-treatment method that is so effective at providing pain relief. You can address lower back pain by lying face up with the pads placed under the lower back for several minutes, there are many unique self-treatment routines that can be performed at home.

It’s best to consult a certified BMT practitioner for more info. Take control of your health and begin your self-treatment journey.

Investing in yourself with BMT can enhance your healing process and decrease pain, it is an attainable lifestyle choice at our fingertips especially in a time where city lockdown measures are imposed so frequently during a pandemic that prevents us from leaving our homes seeking healthcare treatments.

Nelson,

BMT practitioner
