By Michael Rand, personal trainer and triathlete.
Following from my previous blog where I shared my Ironman recovery process with ABMMA BMT, I have been resting whenever I can. After Ironman Cairns, I was in quite a lot of knee pain. Also, when you put so much into an event and you complete it in a standard much less than you expect, there is quite a bit of reflection and soul searching that comes into play.
Reflecting and improving future performance
The truth is that I didn’t do the training required to get the result that I wanted. Truth be told, if I want to get anywhere near where I want to be, I must be better prepared in my body work and gym work.
I have the tool to help. But I must use it more consistently. And with my current work being physically demanding, it makes it more imperative that I use my knowledge and tools more effectively.
Consistency is key
Nearly two months on, the original knee issue has resolved but the opposite side has flared up due to overuse. In my current line of work manufacturing caravans, I am constantly climbing up and down in heavy and uncomfortable safety boots and feel that these are a contributing factor to my injuries.
Now, with use of ABMMA’s new BMT tools (and no more excuses), I have really started to get on top of my injuries. The new ABMMA Electro-Rod has been getting a good work out most days and the legs are starting to come around.
Self-treatment with the ABMMA instrument-assisted tools (electro-rod and blade) has been a revelation for me as I can now pinpoint the current the same way I can when I perform a treatment on someone else. Each day I have been able to target a slightly different area and start to make significant changes to the pain and functionality of my legs, relatively quickly.
Although I am not yet back to full training (I honestly did a real number on myself), each day my body is responding mre and more to the Bioelectric Meridian Therapy treatments. I can feel the energy returning to my legs – a relief as they have felt almost stale since Ironman Cairns.
ABMMA PRO accessories range
Electro-Blade

The creation of the Electro-Blade was the result of ABMMA’s collaboration with high-performance athletes. The blade itself is based on the TCM Gua Sha stone, with the additional benefit of being energised by the ABMMA PRO BMT Device. This allows the user to apply the energy to target muscle and fascia, for athletes this shortens their recovery time to get back to training again sooner.
Electro-Rod

The Electro-Rod shares the same purpose as the Blade, however it has been designed and contoured to apply energy to the larger muscle groups such as the quads and calf muscles. The rod has handles on both ends, allowing the user to apply enough force to physically manipulate the dense muscle of the legs while applying energy. As with the Blade, the Rod has been designed for a variety of needs.
Electro-Finger Glove

The Electro-Finger Glove is designed to address a more specific and delicate area. It’s the perfect tool to address trigger points and scar tissue. The design makes it ideal to use on feet, hands, neck and face. It can also be used by Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists for internal pelvic floor manipulation.
