[Case Study] Brian’s recovery from a complete rotator cuff tear assisted by BMMT

Elderly man with shoulder pain rests on sofa Alt text: Senior man favours his shoulder, resting near plants, symbolising comfort post-Bioelectric Meridian Therapy Description: An older gentleman leans gently against cushions, easing shoulder pain as natural light highlights a calming scene suggestive of BMT healing benefits.

A fall down the stairs left Brian with a painful rotator cuff tear and the inability to move his shoulder. After seeing no improvements from chiropractic treatments he decided to give BMMT a try. His experience with BMMT is a highly relatable one “I can’t really tell you how it works, it’s a freedom of movement, it does good practically all the time.” The results have been nothing less then astounding, returning much of his freedom of movement and eliminating most pain.

Ten years ago Brian suffered a mild stroke that effected the right side of his body. He was left with weakness on the right side and poor cognitive function. When Brian reached out to try BMMT he was experiencing severe pain in his left shoulder as a result of jarring that had occurred when he braised himself in a fall down the stairs. The movement of his shoulder was completely inhibited, and he had already tried chiropractic sessions to try and alleviate the pain and regain some mobility. After experiencing little relief from these other treatments Brian’s carer suggested he give BMMT a go. After a thorough analysis in his first session it was suggested that Brian attend for a scan on suspicions that he may have torn a rotator cuff tendon. An ultrasound the following day confirmed a complete rotator cuff (Supraspinatus and Infraspinatus) tear.

Brian bruised arm

WHAT IS ROTATOR CUFF TEAR

The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles and tendons that stabilise the shoulder joint, facilitating lifting and rotating of the arm.

The four rotator cuff muscles include the:

  • Supraspinatus
  • Infraspinatus
  • Subscapularis
  • Teres minor

A complete rotator cuff tear refers to a tear that goes all the way through the tendon or pulls the tendon completely off the bone.

BMMT TREATMENT

Following the scan results Brian was understandably upset but agreed to give BMMT a go. Brian worked with ABBMA lecturer and BMMT Therapist Tracy Taulier to develop a treatment plan with the goal of managing his pain before improving functional movement. He had 6 sessions of BMMT before filming his video testimonial. The focus of each of the sessions is summarised below:

  1. Session 1 and 2 focused on ridding inflammation in the shoulder area.
  2. Session 3 focused on addressing a lump (blockage) on medial groin. Brian also learnt functional walking gait int his session to minimise unnecessary energy input by creating pre-stretch in fascia.
  3. Sessions 4 to 6 focused on reinforcing all previous routines.

In between these sessions Brian used the Bioelectric Machine at home, performing self treatment with ABMMA methods. With the assistance of his carer he was also able to use our herbal mud in between sessions to help reduce inflammation.

BMMT TREATMENT RESULTS

After just two sessions of BMMT Brian reported a 70% improvement in his shoulder pain. By the third session he was walking straighter and had improved strength in his left leg. After the sixth session Brian no longer had any pain in his shoulder unless he was to move it beyond range. His shoulder mobility has improved by 60% and overall he reports feeling much freer in his entire body mobility. Brian’s mood is better, he is happier and is able to go on longer walks thanks to increased leg strength. We are seeing continued improvement with each of his sessions.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Brian’s results are a testament to all involved. We love that Brian’s carer was able to recommend BMMT and assist him in practising the therapy at home. BMMT really does allow anyone to take their wellness into their own hands. If you or someone you know is experiencing shoulder issues or if you just want to learn more about how BMMT can assist shoulder dysfunction we have opened up a shoulder speciation course just for you.
