Catheter ablation also called radiofrequency or pulmonary vein ablation, isn’t surgery. The doctor puts a thin, flexible tube called a catheter into a blood vessel through the groin or neck and guides it to the heart. When it reaches the area that’s causing the arrhythmia, it can destroy those cells. This helps get the heartbeat regular again.
Mr D had a catheter ablation procedure (through his right groin) on the 4th of November. The procedure went well, however, a few days after, he woke up with severe sharp pain and a large bruise had formed over his anterior medial and posterior thigh. He could not recall what he could have done to cause such a huge bruise. Following the procedure, he was exhausted and fatigued, his body forcing him to rest most days. His doctor suggested that perhaps it had formed due to a burst blood vessel, he was prescribed codeine and sent home.
Mr D came in to see me two weeks after the procedure. He looked tired, pale and weak. His walking gait was unstable as he had difficulty to bring his right leg up due to discomfort and pain. His feet were numb and stiff. He could not bend his right knee when in the supine position. The bruise in his thigh had slowly improved, but not the strength and pain in his leg and groin.
He was very upset and depressed as he has been on bed rest since the incident.
“I sleep most time, not because I need to sleep… because sleep is the easiest way to kill my time”. He said.
I encouraged him to think positively, and decided to perform a full groin and leg routine to address Mr D’s condition. After the session, the sensation had returned to his feet, his ankles movements are nearly back to normal and he was able to perform full knee and hip flexion on his right leg without pain. His walking gait was much more relaxed and stable, not to mention his posture more upright.
I told Mr D that he will see the bruise reduce over the next 48hours. Mr D was in a far better place mentally after the treatment, also.
This was a quick update from Mr D:
How can we thrive in our golden years if we can’t move functionally? Prevention is better than cure. If you have the chance to take preventative action, why not?
BMT is a very gentle and non-invasive modality. The bioelectric energy can penetrate deeper into structures below the skin without causing any discomfort and it delivers very promising results in a short period of time.
Increase functional movement with Bioelectric Meridian Therapy from ABMMA, today.
