BMT for Face Health

Who this course is for?

This course is open to qualified health care professionals wishing to broaden their scope of practice or expand their existing skills and understanding of this highly effective modality, Bioelectric Meridian Therapy (BMT).

Prerequisite

Students who enrol for this course will need to possess a basic understanding of human anatomy and soft tissue therapy.

As an experienced Bodyworker you are eligible to bypass the Level 1 BMT unit.  You are however required to familiarise yourself with the basic use of the device for self-care and be able to deliver the basic lymphatic massage routine prior to beginning the practical course. ABMMA has created the BMT@Home program which contains the required knowledge which must be reviewed and understood before commencing this intensive practical (in class or virtual) course.

  • You will receive a login details for BMT@Home program. The program consist of 5 easy modules:
1 – Introduction to BMT@Home
2 – Self-care Routines 
3 – Hand techniques for BMT
4 – Lymphatic BMT massage for home use
5 – Course wrap up
 
  • You will require a BMT device to practice at home.

• There will be a Q&A session at the beginning of the course to cover any questions.

It is the participants responsibility to ensure that the fundamentals are understand prior to beginning the course, failure to comply may lead to the participant being excluded from the course.

Course outcomes

This course will equip you with a thorough understanding of the principles and concepts relating to Bioelectric Therapy in the health care setting.

You will learn an integrative approach to the assessment and treatment of general skin disorders using basic TCM theory. Blockages along the meridian pathways prevent qi and blood flow efficiently through the body which creates tension in our body’s systems. The face is an extension of both the emotions and the acupuncture meridians of the body. When our internal system and meridian channels are in harmony, this reflects in a vibrant facial complexion.

Upon completion of this course, participants will have learned:

• Identify different Skin types: oily skin and dry skin (definition, characteristics, common skin disorders; Yin-Yang theory; Relationship between skin types and constitution; Relationship between skin disorders and constitutions classification in TCM)

• Understand the relationship between facial health and Five Zang Six Fu organs: Face Manifestations of Five Zang organs; Face Manifestations of Five Fu organs

• Identify the basic relationship between face colours and Diseases – Red-Heart; Yellow-Spleen, Bruise-Liver, Black-Kidney, White-Lung.

• Identify the relationship between facial health and Meridians

• The importance of regular facials and home care.

• Treatment methods using TCM: External (BMT Massage)+ Internal(Herb or diet)

• Identify facial structure and what could cause facial asymmetry and recommend appropriate treatment techniques.

• Demonstrate evaluation methods and identify intervention sites.

• Basic anatomy of face

• Introduction of common acupoints which influence the face health

• Contraindications and Precautions

• Demonstrate evaluation methods and treatment techniques to promote overall wellbeing.
